Original title in Czech: Chemie, technologie a vlastnosti materiálůFCHAbbreviation: NPCO_CHMAcad. year: 2022/2023
Programme: Chemistry, Technology and Properties of Materials
Length of Study: 2 years
Accredited from: 20.7.2001Accredited until: 31.12.2024
Profile
This branch of chemistry specializes in finding and technological use of qualified relations between structure and applicable properties of non-metal inorganic and organic materials on the basis of homogeneous and heterogeneous systems. Graduates suggest, design and supervise chemical processes and technologies producing technically, ecologically and medically important materials or products from oil, mineral, ore and other natural raw materials. The graduates can work in the positions of supervisors of technological processes and as managers of chemical plants producing synthetic materials, in plastics manufacture, in composites and adhesives production, in glass industry, in manufacture of mineral reducers, in cement production, in pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry, in plants producing special construction materials, in biopolymer processing and they can also supervise other chemical processes.
Key learning outcomes
Graduates suggest, design and control chemical processes and technologies producing technically, ecologically and medically important materials or products from oil, mineral, ore and other natural raw materials. The graduates can work in the positions of supervisors of technological processes and as managers of chemical plants producing synthetic materials, in plastics manufacture, composites and adhesives production, at surface treatment and modification of materials (electrotechnical, textile, automobile and air industries) in glass industry, manufacture of mineral reducers, cement production, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry, in plants producing special construction materials, biopolymer processing and they can also supervise other chemical processes.
Occupational profiles of graduates with examples
The graduates are supposed to work in control of technological processes and chemical plants producing synthetic materials; in plastic industry; in production of composites and adhesives; in glass producing industry; in mineral fillers manufacture; in cement producing industry; in pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries; in plants producing special construction materials; in biopolymer production; and in other chemical industries. The alumni will also land positions in research; development; construction; and investment; control of technological processes and management of chemical plants. The alumni will be educated adequately so as they could enter business sphere and take both the positions in production process and also in counselling. The alumni will be able to assess the interaction of various materials with environment with the regard to their lifespan and possible influence on environment; they will also be familiar with the use of chemically oriented literature and they will familiarize with basics of commercial law and patent right, management of human resources and economics of businesses.
