The institute provides research and teaching in the field of chemistry and technology of materials with a focus on building materials, polymers, composites, ceramic materials, metals and corrosion protection. Our aim is to provide the student with an understanding of the principles of fundamental chemical disciplines and technologies, practical engineering skills and a broad understanding of materials engineering. We work closely with industry in research and innovation and involve our students in collaborative projects.

Graduates are profiled in the production, processing and applications of materials in industry, medicine, research and everyday use. An important aspect is the environmental impact of materials and the related development of biomaterials and clean technologies.
