Student of the first year of the doctoral study programme Ing. Jan Vespalec was awarded the Deputy Governor's Prize on 30 November 2023 at the 21st annual competition of student theses announced by the South Moravian Region with his diploma thesis on the topic of Classification of concentrate from membrane processes.
In his thesis, he dealt in particular with the concentrate from the reverse osmosis process at 2 selected sites, where he assessed whether it is a hazardous waste and can be discharged into the sewerage system.
During the summer months of 2023, a student of the 3rd year of the doctoral study programme Ing. Jan Fučík completed his three-month internship in the company Shimadzu in Duisburg, Germany.
He got to this prestigious workplace full of state-of-the-art equipment thanks to his victory in the European competition Shimadzu lab4you, where he won the previous year with his project Identification of drug metabolites in lettuce and earthworms.
The employees of our institute are also active in the field of internationalization: Ing. Martin Cigánek, Ph.D. has received financial support for the years 2024-2025 for travelling and deepening cooperation within the framework of the mobility project of the Ministry of Education and Science on the topic of adamantane side chain engineering for highly ordered organic semiconducting pigments and dyes between the Brno University of Technology and JKU LIOS in Linz, Austria.
Support for travel and deepening of international cooperation was also granted to another employee of the Institute of Chemistry and Technology, Mgr. Jan Richtár, Ph.D. with a continuation of the project from last year (Photo)electrocatalytic processes for sustainable and green applications in cooperation with the Austrian university Technische Universität Wien. The source of funding is provided by the AKTION Czech Republic - Austria programme under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Science.
