STUDENT CONFERENCE “Chemistry is Life”

The Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry BUT has announced this year’s edition of the student conference “Chemistry is life”. The registration is open to students of chemical and related fields enrolled in bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral study programmes, as well as to high-school students. At the conference, students will share the results of their creative activities either in the form of presentations or posters. The competition in student creative activities is part of the conference as well. The best contributions in each section will be awarded.

We cordially invite students of the chemical faculties across the Czech Republic and Slovakia, as well as high-school students to participate. The conference will be held on 28 November 2024. We look forward to meeting you in person at the premises of the Faculty of Chemistry BUT.

SECTIONS:

  1. High-school students section
    The evaluation committee is coordinated by the head of the section: prof. Ing. Michal Veselý, CSc.
  2. Bachelor’s and master’s students section
    The evaluation committee is coordinated by the head of the section: Ing. Petr Sedláček, Ph.D
  3. Doctoral students section
    The evaluation committee is coordinated by the head of the section: prof. Ing. Stanislav Obruča, Ph.D. and doc. Ing. František Šoukal, Ph.D.

Based on the number of registered participants, each section can be divided into two thematic blocks: Life science and Material science. The communication language is Czech (Slovak) and English (compulsory for the doctoral section). The presentation of contributions will be a maximum of 20 minutes long including the discussion. The organizers reserve the right to change the form of the presentation to a poster presentation in case of the large number of submissions. The high-school students section is organized as the poster presentation; the accompanying commentary will be between 5 and 10 minutes long.

The best contributions in all sections will be awarded.

The book of abstracts (printed) and the conference proceedings (electronic, available on the conference website) will be published as a part of the conference. The conference is sponsored by Teva Pharmaceuticals CR, s.r.o.
