Student cards & transport pass
Information for new short-term students
After you arrive at BUT, your coordinator will provide you with a BUT student card. (Do not forget to send your photo with other documents while applying.) It serves as your identification at the university and your proof of study. It allows you to enter faculty/university premises, labs, lecture rooms etc. You will use it in a library, each time you need to print something and in student cafeterias.
However, the public transport company in Brno (and others) might require you to prove your student status with an ISIC card. Unfortunately, the university does not facilitate ISIC cards for short-term international students, but you can get one directly from the official provider in the Czech Republic. Please follow this link.
For your online public transport pass (BrnoID portal), the student status is validated online (only after you become “an active student”, no sooner than with the start of the Welcome Week). How to obtain your electronic transport pass.
