Laboratory Classes in Printing Technology

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will obtain the basic knowledge of work flow in printing works and their equipment. Students will obtain the skills of printing plate preparation, offset printing technology, bookbinding, print quality control and its evaluation.

Physical and macromolecular chemistry, photochemistry

Course curriculum

1. Imposition of pages, mounting of pages on carrier sheet, copying on offset plate, offset plate development, quality control. 2. Printing process on sheet-fed offset press, ink unit control, fountain solution control, quality supervision. 3. Print quality evaluation. Control strip measurement by densitometry. Colour register, print contrast, hue error, grayness. 4. Bookbinding characterisation, quality evaluation.

Aims

The aim of the course Technology of printing art is to provide students with theories and basic technologies in printing art and provide them an overview of these technologies.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance and activity at the laboratory classes are required. One absence can be compensated by the elaboration of substitute tasks.
