Chemistry and Technology of Silicate Materials I

Basic compounds and systems, oxides, silicates, carbonates. Glass technology, properties of molten glasses, theoretical principles of glass melting, glass manufacturing, important types of industrial manufactured glasses. Glass-ceramics. Technology of ceramics manufacturing, raw materials and their mixtures, forming, drying, thermal operating, ceramics on the basis of clay raw materials, multicomponent technical ceramics, thermal resistant materials, refractories. Vitreous and crystalline coatings. Inorganic binding materials, general characteristics of binding agents gypsum plasters, magnesium oxichloride cement, Portland cements, aluminous cement, phosphate binders and water glass.
