Hazard Analysis and Chemical Safety 1.

Analysis and evaluation of the hazards caused by the treatment of environment and its contamination by chemicals. Evaluation of dangerous qualities, classification, registration and treatment of chemical substances following the regulations of the Czech Republic, EU and other international regulations. Methods of hazard analyses and their applications. Algorithm of hazard evaluation. Danger of the selected operations. Informational systems in chemical security. Hazard potential in chemical and petrochemical industries. Mechanism and causes of chemical emergencies followed by the release of dangerous chemicals into environment. Valid legislature of chemical emergency liquidation and prevention. Prevention of emergencies and accidents.

Course curriculum
13 lectures (per 2 hours)
Excursion in industry (4 hours)
1) Introduction to the area, importance of identification of hazar and assessment related risks. 2) Risk potential in chemical and petrochemical industry. 3) Mechanism and causes od incidents and accidents with releases of hazardous substances. 4) Method of preparation of risk analyses according to the M.E.A of the C.R. 5) Legislation of E.U. and international treaties concerning chemical substances. 6) Handling with hazardous chemical substances and preparations in the C.R. Clasification and testing hazardous properties, registration, wraping and labeling. 7) Important resources of information about hazardous properties of chemical substances. 8) Risk analyses related with affection of chemical harmful substances. 9) Risk analyses of negative impacts of chemical substances on the evnironment. 10) Emergency situations and accidents. Typ plans for solutions. 11) Mission of state authorities and institutions. 12) Legislation of the C.R. in the area of prevention and liquidation of accidernts and emergency situations. 13) Liquidation of consequences, speciality of natural disaster and war events.
Work placements
Aims
with legislation on EU and CR concerning dangerous materials and preparation, introduce with improvement sources of information about dangerous properties
of chemical materials, obtaining information about principles of first aid
and sanitation, identification basics of safety and hygiene at work.
Inform students about problems of prevention and liquidation accidents, crisis planing a management, with valid legislature, duties of state organs, self - employed juridical and physical persons.
Inform students about treatment of possible specified undesired events and accidents.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
