Soil Protection Technology
FCH-BC_TOPAcad. year: 2025/2026
Short- and longterm pollution of soil by anthropogenic activities - mining, agricultural acitivities, transport etc. Natural decontamination and detoxification. Survey of methods of purification, decontamination and remediation. Physical methods (evaporation, extraction, washing-out). Soil protection with the position of legislative requirements. Long-term and short-term soil pollution through anthropogenic activities - mining, agricultural activities, industry, etc. Natural detoxification and decontamination. Basic methods of cleaning, decontamination and remediation. Physical methods (evaporation, extraction, scrubbing). Mechanical methods (removal of contamined layer), chemical, biochemical, biotechnological and microbiological remediation. Specific methods according to contaminants, objects, geological (including hydrogeological) and geographical conditions, equipment, work safety and environment protection.

Aims
Students will know the legal aspects of protection of the horn environment. They will learn about the main sources of contamination of the rock environment. They will know the main environmental contaminants with a focus on the soil ecosystem and the rock environment. They also learn about the mechanisms of rock environment contamination.
Based on this knowledge, they will understand the nature and principles of each type of decontamination and will be able to design basic decontamination procedures under specific conditions.
