Environmental Safety II

Characteristics of severe chemical, radiation and biological accidents. Characteristics of serious natural disasters. Prevention of accidents. Definitions and basic characteristics and concepts of individual chemical, biological and radiation technologies. Particular attention will be paid to the basic concepts of radiation technologies and current trends.

Regular completion of the previous specialised courses. Special knowledge of courses in chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, physical chemistry and climatology.
Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
The study of the subject will be finished the final consultation and the oral examination according to the presented lectures related to the class of study.
Attendance at lectures is not compulsory, but is recommended.
Controls of teaching in combination study perform at laest three compulsory consultations during the term.
Controls of teaching in attendance study realize through discussion forum at lectures, after ending the block of lectures.

Aims
The aim of the subject is to provide students with basic information on the characteristics of chemical, radiation and biotechnological accidents on their prevention and risk assessment. The focus is on the interpretation of organizational and technical measures in the field of chemical, radiation and biotechnological safety. It also includes the assessment of natural disasters applied to our climatic region. Through lectures, students will gain basic knowledge of the prevention of these accidents in all major areas in accordance with valid legislation.
Increasing knowledge and competencies of students will be reflected in the following areas:
a) Graduates of the subject will understand mutual relationships in the prevention of serious chemical accidents.
b) Graduates of the subject will understand mutual relationships in the prevention of serious radiation accidents.
c) Graduates of the subject will understand mutual relationships in the prevention of serious biotechnological accidents.
d) Graduates of the subject will understand the mutual relations in the prevention of major traffic accidents.
