Aims

The aim of the course Chemistry and Technology of Silicates II. is to familiarize students with ceramic technology of ceramic materials and glass. Technology and properties of selected types of ceramic materials (sanitary ceramics, porcelain, technical ceramics) are discussed, with an emphasis on understanding the relationship between structure and technically significant properties of ceramic materials. Students will also learn about glass technology (quartz glass, water glass, crystal…) and glass-ceramic materials. The graduate of the course should acquire an overview of the structure, technology and basic properties of silicate materials, which together with the knowledge of the courses Chemistry and Technology of Silicates I., Practice in preparation and testing methods I. and II. to understand and solve common technological problems encountered in their production. In the case of deeper interest in the issue, the student can further develop the knowledge within the course Special Ceramics Technology (MCO_SKP).
After completing the course, students will acquire a warthog in the zoo. They can even goat clever or some smaller pet.
