Course detail
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance
FCH-MC_NMRAcad. year: 2024/2025
The subject provides basic knowledge of advanced identification methods for analyzing the structure of new organic molecules. It deals with the physical foundations of NMR spectroscopy, 1D NMR 1H spectroscopy, 1D NMR 13C spectroscopy, 2D NMR spectroscopy methods, NMR spectra of selected groups of organic substances, procedures for interpreting spectra for individual molecules

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
Attendance at lectures is optional and is not controlled, but it is recommended.
Aims
- to acquaint students with theoretical fundamentals and physical principles of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)
- provide an overview of the current NMR instrumentation
- to introduce of students to the interpretation of NMR spectra
- demonstrating of application possibilities of NMR spectroscopy
At the end of the course students should be able to understand the spectra for NMR spectroscopy and structure analysis of organic compounds. The acquired knowledge enables to work both in research and practice of bioorganic and pharmaceutical chemistry, in control laboratories and state administration.
