Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
The examination consists from written test and oral examination. In the written part knowledge from Organic Chemistry II is tested, in oral exam then knowledge from the whole Organic chemistry.
Completing the tutorial of Organic chemistry requires the attendance and successfully passed all class exams. The examination consists from written test and oral examination.
Aims
Completing the course of Organic Chemistry II in connection with course Organic Chemistry I, students acquire the complex knowledge of structure, reactivity and stereochemistry of hydrocarbon derivatives and heterocyclic compounds. The knowledge acquired enables to work both in research and practice of organic chemistry, in control laboratories and state administration authorities.

Syllabus
The course provides knowledge of basic organic chemistry in terms of mechanisms of organic reactions, basic physicochemical properties of selected types of organic compounds and the student learns the basic pillars of organic chemistry and organic synthesis. The course is divided into several chapters:
1. Halogenated derivatives of organic compounds, nucleophilic substitution on a saturated carbon atom, and elimination reactions.
2.-3. Alcohols, phenols, polyhydroxy compounds and their reactions.
4. Ethers, peroxides, epoxides. Thiols, sulphides, sulfonic acids and their derivatives.
5.-6. Amines, their diazotation, formation of arendiazonium salts and their uses. Diazocompounds. Azides. Nitro compounds.
7. Organometallic compounds and their reactions.
8.-10. Carbonyl compounds - aldehydes and ketones, nucleophilic addition to the C=O group, aldolysis reactions of aldehydes and ketones.
11.-13. Carboxylic acids and their functional derivatives: acyl halides, anhydrides, esters, amides.
