Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will master selected chapters of advanced colloid chemistry which are related to their dissertation work.

Prerequisites

University level of physical chemistry (esp. thermodynamics, electrochemistry, colloid chemistry), physics (especially electrical field) and mathematics (calculus).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course uses teaching methods in form of individual consultation. The e-learning system (LMS Moodle) is available to teachers and students.

Colloquy including oral lecture on given topic.

Course curriculum

Selected chapters from advanced colloid chemistry preferably directly related to the subject of dissertation theses of enrolled students:
Static and dynamic light scattering.
Surface tension and contact angle.
Adsorption from solution, on the gas-solid interphase.
Associating colloids of surfactantss.
Van der Waals and electrostatic forces in colloids.
Stability and stabilization of colloids.
Gels.

Students will elaborate theoretical and practical knowledge on chemistry of colloidal systems and related areas.
