Diploma Seminar - FSBT

Presentation of a short lecture on topic and objectives of diploma thesis, discussion. Introductory part of diploma seminar includes several presentations of postgradual students on selected topics of complex research programm of Department of Food Chemistry and Biotechnology.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

How to present and evaluate results of research work. Knowledge about topic of diploma thesis.

General knowledge of chemistry on university level.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Condition for awarding the course-unit credit is attendance at seminars, oral presentation (15 min) of individual task related to diploma work and active disacussion.

Course curriculum

a) Regular discussion seminars.
b) Individual work and tuition with supervisor of Diploma Thesis:
Each supervisor of Diploma Thesis orders one suitable article to the student according to the Thesis topic. Student elaborates this article and presents it within 10-15 minutes as follows:
- which problem and why was investigated in the article,
- which methods were used,
- which results were assumed by the authors,
- how are these results related to the Diploma Thesis generally as well as in particular.
c) Oral presentation.

Training of students in presentation and evaluation of results of experimental and theoretical work.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at seminars, oral presentation.
