Original Abstract
Well-defined macromonomers with predetermined molecular weights (DP = D[M]/[I]0) and low polydispersities (Mw/Mn < 1.3) can be prepared via a controlled living free radical polymerization technique known as Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP). Well-defined end groups of macromonomers are predetermined by the initiator (alkyl halide) used. Functional end groups can be introduced by use of either a functional initiator or through the transformation of the halogen end group by an organic chemistry technique.
