Original Abstract
The problem of VOC's (volatile organic compounds) is one of the urgent tasks in contemporary research because VOC's vapors escaping into the air contribute significantly to the air pollution. Besides the classical techniques, the plasma assisted combustion methods are widely developed. The contemporary experiment was focused on the VOC decomposition in planar surface and volume dielectric barrier discharges using alumina ceramics. The photocatalytic TiO2 was prepared by various techniques based on ink-jet printing on inner side of discharge ceramic plates. The exhaust gas analysis was carried out by simple gas analyzer Testo 350-XL that was used for the detection of simple low molecular weight discharge products as CO, NO2, NO, H2, etc. The analyses of discharge exhaust gas showed the high concentration of NO2 and CO in all discharge configurations. The total concentration of non-combusted VOCs was slightly decreasing with the applied power increase. The TiO2 catalyst induced the reduction down to about 50 %.
