Original Abstract
Bone cements are very attractive material in medcine. They are used mainly in orthopedy or dentistry as a filler. Novel bone cement based on phosphate ceramics, smart thermoresponsive hydrogel and dopamine exhibits very good adhesive properties. Due to this fact it has great potential for bone fracture fixation, comminuted fracture fixation respectively. Nowdays there is no suitable fixation method for this type of facture. The main goal of this study was to modification of cement with dopamine and to characterize their chemophysical properties, with emphasis on rheology of cement and ex-vivo biomechanical testing on pigs femur.
Keywords
bone cement, calcium-phoshpate cement, dopamine, polydopamine, thermosensitive copolymer
