Original Abstract

While the vapour formation stage of relatively low voltage plasmas in conducting solutions has been relatively well studied via electrical techniques, optical measurements such as Schlieren and shadowgraphy and simulation, the nature of the discharges formed within the vapour layers is still largely unexplored territory. Through the use of fast imaging with and without optical filters, information can be inferred about the character of such discharges. Spatially and temporally resolved spectroscopy combined with analysis of relative line intensities of lines and broadening of hydrogen beta for plasmas created in aqueous solutions of both BaCl2 and NaCl will provide information about electron temperature and electron density respectively.
