Original Abstract
Properties of the metallic materials working at higher temperatures are strongly dependent on degradation processes imposed. Among the most important degradation proceses belong: high temperature oxidation, corrosion and erosion. Surface modifications research and development currently takes place in order to improve properties and usability of these materials. One of many possibilities to ensure an improvement of the mettalic materials surface properties is use of the diffusion coatings. These are based on substrate surface saturation with Al, Cr, Si and their combinations. These elements are able to create compact protection intermatallic layer on the metallic substrate. This paper deals with phase transformations analysis, study of interaction of several elements between coating and substrate, formation of diffusion coating under different high temperature conditions. For evaluation and determination of diffusion coatings transformations the light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive microanalyses, glow discharge optical emission spectrometry and image analyses methods were used.
