Lessons learned from the detailed investigation of polluted environment of former Soviet garrisons on the territory of Czechia and Slovaki, as well as long-term experience with behaviour of domestic aarmed forces in the peacetime military activities on the environment and identify the most important, extensive or frequent. Conclusions for environmentally sound behaviour of troops, corresponding technologies, ecological education and for relevant legislative are presented.
