Original Abstract
The use of organic semiconductors in bioelectronic applications is a promising direction in the field of organic electronic and photonics. Diketopyrrolopyrrole-based materials have been studied in wide range of applications in electronics, nevertheless bioelectronics have not been one of them. Here we present DPP-based materials obtained by thionation of the keto group of the DPP core. The presented materials show highly selective n-type behavior and moderately high electron field-effect mobilities. A possible use of these materials might be in organic photovoltaic-based retinal prostheses. As demonstrated before, organic semiconductors are at the base of an attractive approach to neural stimulation. With this approach it is possible to move forward in helping to restore vision in patients with retinal dystrophies. The presented material has properties, which put them in the role of candidates for such applications. This is the route we would like to explore in the future.
