Original Abstract
The contribution deals with the current topic of hydrogels. These are materials that have long been attracting attention in a wide range of fields - from agriculture to medicine. Depending on the type of hydrogel prepared, different medical applications are also considered. In this study, we focus on the use of chitosan hydrogels in the field of wound dressings. Chitosan stands out for its biocompatibility [1], relatively low cost and the possibility of biodegradation. In this application, they should serve both as wound covers that prevent further mechanical tissue damage and additionally prevent pathogens from penetrating the wound. In the study, various chitosan hydrogels (different molecular weight, degree of deacetylation, concentrations, etc.) were prepared and their mechanical properties were studied. The possibility of incorporating drugs, commonly used for the treatment of more or less serious wounds (anti-inflammatories and antibiotics), was also studied for successful and fastest possible treatment. Subsequently, the impact on the internal structure of the prepared gels and the diffusion properties of these drugs were studied. The ability to release drugs into the wound over time was determined. The determination is carried out by LC-MS by release into physiological solution at 37ºC after 6, 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours.
