Original Abstract
In this work, we did a numerical simulation of a spiral nozzle spraying liquid using ANSYS software which has not been studied thus far. We also tried to simulate the behavior of the gas phase in the sprinkler head applied on parameters of a pilot gas scrubbing unit which is solved in the framework of a project of Technology Agency. First, we simulated the gas phase distribution inside the sprinkler head using a Reynolds stress model with the coupled solving scheme (Figure a,b). This model is suitable for description of extremely turbulent flow. Second, we used a two-phase VOF model to investigate basic parameters of liquid flow escaping the spiral nozzle (Figure c). Both simulations are then used to study liquid shower in the sprinkler head in a counter-flow with the entering polluted gas using a DPM model of the sprayed liquid. The DPM model provides us with information about distribution of liquid fragments and individual droplets to estimate the interface area necessary for adequate mass transfer rate.
