Original Abstract

Ostrava is highly industrial city with production of bituminous coal, metallurgical and chemical industry. The investigation of soil contamination is important from the reasons a long term negative impacts of potential toxic and hazardous elements on environmental and public health. The research was focused on determination of concentrations selected heavy metals (Hg, Cd, Pb, Zn, Cu, V, and Mn) and pollution assessment with using various single and total complex indices of pollution/contamination and and statistical methods (descriptive statistics, multivariate analysis).
