Original Abstract
Deposition of thin films as gas barrier protection of materials against external influences is used in various industrial applications such as microelectronics, food packaging, anticorrosion layers etc. It could be an alternative way how to fast and effectively save cultural heritage from corrosion destruction. Parylene (poly-para-xylylene) is chosen as a suitable candidate for preparation of thin barrier films for protection of metallic archaeological artefacts. To ensure removal of parylene thin film, soluble interlayer made of silicone-acrylic lacquer Laksil is deposited between metal and parylen film. The presented contribution describes preparation of this multilayer on model metallic samples and its characterization by profilometry, Scanning Electron Microscopy/Energy-dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy, Oxygen Transmission Rate measurement, coloristic measurement and corrosion tests.
