Original Abstract
Organotin compounds are antropogenic contaminants. They are mainly contained in pesticide formulations, fertilizers, wood preservatives and in PVC (stabilizers). The most widely used separation technique for the determination of organotin compounds is gas chromatography (GC) due to its high separation efficiency and the possibility of using different types of detectors. Usually, organotins are extracted from the sample and subsequently derivatized in order to improve volatility. Flame photometric detector (FPD), atomic emission detector (AED) and mass spectrometer are most suitable for their detection. For the evaluation of ecotoxicological effects of the organotin compounds the following aquatic organisms seem to be the most suitable: crustaceans Thamnocephalus platyurus and Daphnia magna from the group of aquatic invertebrates, Lemna minor (Duckweed lesser) from the group of monocotyledonus plants. A set of alternative tests Thamnotoxkit F and Daphtoxkit F could be also used as an alternative.
