Construction of the current modulator operating on the basis of the electron-dipole interaction on molecular level. Functional molecules will be synthesized possessing the following properties: (i) the conjugated polymer backbone capable of transportingpolarons on the application of the electric field; (ii) photochromic side groups capable of changing their dipole moments by the action of the light; the charge carrier transport in the main chain will depend on the electron-phonon interacion; the light-induced dipole in the side group desreases the charge carrier velocity in the backbone; the basic physical phenomena affecting the construction of the modulator will be studied: charge carrier transport, influence of polar impurities, formation of polarons, formation of traps, and charge localization and its influence on charge carrier mobility. The experimental results will be supported by model quantum-chemical calculations.
