On the project

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a painful and unpleasant condition that can only be treated by total joint arthroplasty. In this study, polyhydroxyalkanoates as bio-sourced, biocompatible and biodegradable polymeric materials will be utilized in development of bioinks for low-temperature 3D printing of hydrogel-based scaffolds for cartilage replacement and regeneration. These scaffolds are intended to provide mechanical and structural properties analogous to human articular cartilage.
