Laboratory ofPlasma Processes
Plasma technologies are nowadays increasingly used as specific, highly efficient and environmentally acceptable alternatives to conventional technological processes, mainly due to their waste-free implementation. In the Plasmochemical Processes Laboratory, we focus on the generation, diagnosis and use of low-temperature plasmas generated in various electric discharge configurations, both in gaseous and liquid environments.
The main applications of the plasma processes we investigate include the interaction of plasmas with materials of various compositions and structures, be they solid surfaces, both natural and synthetic (textiles, paper, wood, polymers, archaeological finds), biological materials (tissues, cells, bacteria, plants) or liquids. We also focus on degradation and synthetic processes (inorganic and organic nanoparticles, lower organic molecules, etc.). Last but not least, the production and application of plasma-activated water for biomedical and agricultural purposes as an environmentally acceptable medium for sterilization, fungicide, stimulation or fertilization is gaining importance.
