Achievements of ICHTEP students
Congratulations to the winners Kristýna Brabcová, Pavla Denková and Jakub Macha for their excellent placements in the recently held final thesis competitions on environmental topics.On 29 November 2022, the winners of the XXth year of the Thesis Competition organized by Lipka and JMK were announced at the premises of the JMK in Brno. Two of the nine prize-winning works were by our students:

Use of QuEChERS method for analysis of fluoroquinolone antibiotics in soil
Kristýna presents new findings regarding the optimization and application of the method for the analysis of antibiotics in soil. The results are directly applicable in analytical practice. The work is supplemented by illustrations, including a graphical abstract.
Pavla Denková
Influence of biodegradation of polyhydroxyalkanoates on soil properties and composition
Pavla focused on the current topic - biodegradation of natural polymers (so-called bioplastics) in soil. She points out that further research should focus on the key players in biodegradation, i.e. soil organisms.
Karel Velek Award 2022
The 1st place in the competition for the Karel Velek Prize 2022 was awarded to Jakub Mach for an exceptionally well-presented and thematically revealing diploma thesis in the field of waste management.
Ing. Karel Velek (1926-1996) was a leading Czech expert in the field of waste management, a popularizer of waste issues and a dedicated employee of the Czechoslovak Society for the Environment. Since 1998, on the occasion of the Waste-Luhačovice Congress, the Karel Velek Prize has been awarded as a special token of appreciation to an individual for an exceptionally precise and thematically beneficial professional diploma thesis in the field of waste management.
