Petr Horvát is the European orienteering champion
On Saturday 27 July 2019, European Universities Orienteering Championship (EUOC) wrapped up. It took place in Olomouc and its surroundings for the first time. Petr Horvát, a student of the Faculty of Chemistry, won a gold medal and became the European university orienteering champion. “I put in my maximum right from the start. I felt really good throughout the race. In the first section, I reached a good speed. Even though the next part was more technical, I was able to keep my pace. And what is important, I did not make any mistakes. Then I realized I was doing really well. I am glad I handled it and avoided making a big mistake,” he said immediately after the race.
Petr Horvát also represented the Czech Republic at the 2019 Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk. An older interview with the multitalented athlete, who also excels in swimming or ski orienteering, is available at ZVUT.cz (in Czech). Pictured below is Petr Horvát with Tereza Janošíková (Palacký University Olomouc), who won a gold medal as well. For complete results, visit the EUOC website.
