Originální abstrakt

The recycling of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is crucial in the context of sustainability, particularly due to the increasing demand for reducing plastic consumption and introducing a circular economy. The European Union has set binding targets for the recycled PET (rPET) content in beverage bottles – by 2025, they must contain at least 25 % recycled material, and by 2030, up to 30 %. However, repeated recycling of PET can lead to contamination of the material with hazardous elements, posing a potential health risk. Special attention is paid to Antimony, which is used in the form of Sb2O3 as a catalyst in PET production. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor and control the presence of Sb and other hazardous elements in these materials and their potential migrations into beverages. This abstract summarizes the analysis of these elements in PET and rPET materials, focusing on their concentration and the study of the effects of various factors on their release into different types of beverages.
