Přednáška: Side Chain Engineering in Organic Electronic Materials
Research on organic semiconductors has and is prospering due to the vast possibilities of structural design and the promising aspects for a broad spectrum of applications – e.g. OFETs, OLEDs and OPVs. The optoelectronic characteristics are commonly vastly dominated by the design of the conjugated system. However, the impact of the side chain layout can be rather substantial. Exceeding the “mere” facilitation of solubility and processability, the structure and distribution of side chains can affect the formation and the alignment of the conjugated scaffold (torsion/planarization), the packing (π–π stacking, etc.), the orientation and the morphology in neat and in blended layers. Optical as well as electronic features can be manipulated significantly. Furthermore, side chains can be utilized to introduce additional functionalities to further extend the versatility of organic semiconductors.
In this presentation I will display examples for side chain engineering, trying to provide some insights into the vast possibilities of side chain engineering.
