Centrum materiálového výzkumu zve na přednášku Lukasze Szydlowského
Development of tools for high-throughput screening and selection of electroctive microorganisms for substrate-specific wastewater treatment, electrostimulated biosynthesis, and real-time water monitoring using Bio-electrochemical systems (BES).
Biography:
Dr. Lukasz Szydlowski has started his research career at University of Edinburgh with a BSc in Biotechnology, followed by a PhD in Biotechnology at Cambridge, UK. His biological experience oscillates around synthetic biology, omics studies and clean power generation. Currently he is working with electrogenic microbial consortia for the last 3 years at Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) in Japan. Working in the interdisciplinary unit that developed BES reactors ranging from 200 mL to 1.7m3, he is familiar with various challenges in BES. Dr. Szydlowski’s current project focuses on engineering of microbial consortia and monocultures for selective waste treatment, biosensing, as well as electro-stimulated bioproduction. In his seminar, he will introduce the design and materials for reactors he has been using at OIST, their functionality, as well as genetic engineering conducted on the isolated electrogenic bacteria.
